Student Spotlight

Brad Fowler

I’m writing to share my story. I joined the National Cybersecurity Student Association a few months ago, after enrolling in a Master of Science in Cybersecurity at Bellevue University. Since enrolling in November, 2016, I’ve completed four courses; and currently have a 4.0 GPA. I enrolled to increase my knowledge of this industry, after being targeted by spoofing, hacking, and malware time and again. Seemingly, many refuse to adhere to Internet protocol policies that prohibit the intrusion of privacy, both via e-mail and PC or laptop devices. So, after battling with security software developer corporations, and trying various downloads of security software, I withdrew from the battle and decided to become educated on the facts.

Learning about Internet securities while completing my Associate of Science in PC and Computer Maintenance Technology at Penn Foster College and at Ashford University Forbes School of Business, where I completed a Bachelor of Arts in eMarketing, which I also learned additional knowledge about Internet securities, while completing my Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology at Ashford University College of Education.

Gaining such knowledge and hands-on experience, propelled me towards desiring to learn more. Thus, I enrolled at Bellevue University, with hopes to complete this Cybersecurity degree to enhance the knowledge I’ve already gained. And, I seek to also acquire a third Master degree in Information Technology Management.

I never imagined being so ignorant to the facts about Internet security and/or Cybersecurity environments. But, if we don’t take an initiative to better educate ourselves about this industry that impacts the world, we will remain victims of our own ignorance.

Therefore, with hopes of being a beckon of light to others’, I developed a journal that continued developing while completing Introduction of Information Security Management at Bellevue University.  To learn more about this journal, log on to http://bfcybersecurityjournal.blogspot.com
